Swine Flu and Pets

Published by englishgrad at 12:25 am under Pets Edit This

Most pet owners are concerned about the swine flue and what effect it may have on their four-legged companions. However, there is no reason to fear. According to Avenuek9.com, “the swine flu poses little risk to dogs and cats.” However, canine influenza is prevalent this season so be wary of symptoms such as coughing, nasal discharge, or fever. A normal temperature for a cat or dog is between 101 to 102.5 degrees.

To prevent this illness, do not take your pet to places like dog parks, where it may pass germs or be exposed to unvaccinated animals.  Make sure it is eating and drinking normally as well. Should your pet exhibit flu-like symptoms, contact your veterinarian immediately.
