Animal Crackers over Dog Biscuits?
Wow, I have made a discovery that blew my mind today. I thought ALL dogs loved dog biscuits, but, for some reason, my dog, Little Girl does not touch them. Last week, I went and bought both dogs a box of Milkbone dog biscuits, thinking I was being a “good mom” because I was getting my “kids” some treats. Today, I decided to give each of them a dog biscuit. Gracie ate hers in two seconds, while Little Girl just pushed hers around with her nose. Thinking of a replacement treat that Little Girl would enjoy, I ran into the house and retrieved a bag of animal crackers. Yes, animal crackers! And, you know, the funny part of it….her tail started wagging when I let her sniff an animal cracker….a completely different reaction from when she sniffed her dog biscuit. She ate an animal cracker and immediately wanted more. She probably ate four in all since I didn’t want her to overdo it on “people” food, but, really, now that I think about it, animal crackers are a healthy “people” food for your four-legged companion. They are low in fat AND sugar so as not to cause obesity or any digestive problems. Try them as a treat with your pets sometime; I promise you they will eat them up! My kitten even eats them every once in awhile. If you have a cat, however, I would recommend breaking the animal cracker into smaller pieces so they won’t choke.
